Lauren Colwell

As licensed mental health therapist with a diverse background in child welfare, education, and counseling, I bring over two decades of experience to my practice. My journey in supporting individuals and families began at the Department of Children and Families, where I developed a deep understanding of the complexities within family dynamics and child development.

With 15 years of service as a school counselor, I honed my skills in navigating the unique challenges adolescents face in their academic and personal lives. My time in schools provided invaluable insights into the social, emotional, and academic needs of young people, enriching my approach to therapy.

Currently, I am thrilled to embark on a new chapter as a part-time member of the Gentles Counseling team. Specializing in working with adolescents, but committed to working with clients of all ages, I strive to create a safe and supportive space where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered to navigate life’s challenges.

One of my areas of expertise lies in Collaborative Problem Solving, a method I employ to help youth and their families resolve conflicts and build healthier relationships. I firmly believe in the power of collaboration and communication in fostering positive change.

Being fluent in both Spanish and Portuguese allows me to better understand the complexities of many cultures, and I am deeply committed to advocating for individuals from all cultural backgrounds and identities. In my practice, cultural competence and inclusivity are at the forefront of my approach, ensuring that each client receives the tailored support they deserve.

Whether you’re a teenager struggling to find your place in the world or a family seeking harmony amidst conflict, I am here to offer compassionate guidance and support every step of the way. Together, we can embark on a journey of healing and growth, unlocking your full potential and fostering meaningful connections.
